The 25th Syndicate Meeting of Canadian University of Bangladesh
The 25th Syndicate meeting of the Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) was held on 3rd December 2024 in the Boardroom of the city campus. The meeting was presided over by Prof. Dr. Jahirul Haque, Vice Chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh. Several significant decisions were taken during the meeting.
The CUB Syndicate approved a 20% tuition waiver for all students of the summer 2024 semester, considering the current economic crisis. Chowdhury Jafarullah Sharafat, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of CUB, urged collective cooperation to achieve the goal of positioning the university among the top seven institutions in the country within the next few years.
Ms. Nurun Akhtar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Education (Government-nominated Syndicate member), expressed appreciation for the university's city campus infrastructure and its quality faculty members. She also recommended maintaining the quality of admission tests for student enrollment.
Major General Abul Kalam Md. Humayun Kabir, the UGC-nominated Syndicate member, highlighted the university's bright future prospects. He praised the introduction of high-demand programs such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Data Science and recommended introducing more sports activities to promote student well-being.
Mr. Javed Husein, Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of CUB, emphasized that quality education, faculty recruitment, and student enrollment form the foundation for achieving the university's long-term vision.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Gias Uddin Ahsan, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Professor A.S.M. Serajul Haque, Treasurer; Professor Dr. Mohammad Raisuddin Ahmed, Acting Dean & Vice President of CUB; and Prof. Dr. Zahurul Haque, among others.
