Embarking on Literary Journeys: CUB English Department Orients New Students
The English Department at Canadian University of Bangladesh today orients the academic journeys of its newest students with an empowering and holistic orientation program held in the university auditorium. The event went beyond mere introductions, aiming to equip freshers with the knowledge, connections, and well-being strategies necessary to thrive both academically and personally.
The program featured inspiring addresses from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. DR. H M JAHIRUL HAQUE, A S M G Faruk, Joint Registrar & (Registrar (in-charge) and the Head of the Department MS Rezina Sultana. These key figures extended a warm welcome and offered crucial insights into the university's academic landscape, available resources and comprehensive student support network. Their words served to guide and reassure the new students as they embark on this exciting new chapter.
Recognizing the importance of holistic well-being, the orientation included an interactive and highly valuable workshop on students' physical and mental health. Led by Dr. Aflatun Jahan Asha, a Specialist in Internal Medicine from Square Hospital, the session provided practical tools and advice for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and strong mental resilience, particularly crucial during the hot summer months and any ongoing challenges. This focus on well-being underscored the department's commitment to the overall success of its students.
The auditorium vibrates with energy as current students actively engaged with the newcomers through lively ice-breaking sessions and candid sharing of their university experiences. This peer-to-peer interaction fostered a strong sense of community and helped alleviate any initial anxieties among the fresher’s. Many new students expressed their enthusiasm and a newfound sense of ease about starting their academic pursuits.
The orientation concluded with a vibrant cultural program and refreshments, leaving the new students feeling well-prepared, connected, and inspired to begin their literary explorations at CUB.
