Short Biography

Ashfaqur Rahman is currently serving as a Senior Assistant Secretary at the Law & Justice Division, Ministry of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka. With a strong academic foundation in law, he obtained both his LLB (Honours) and LLM (General) from the University of Dhaka, achieving notable academic accomplishments. His key areas of interest include succession law, judicial administration, and legal education.

Ashfaqur has cultivated a wealth of specialized skills and experiences that enhance his contributions to legal administration and policy-making. He has previously served as a Lecturer in the Department of Law at the State University of Bangladesh, where he was actively engaged in legal education. His dedication to professional excellence is reflected in his achievements, including securing the first position in the 36th Foundation Training Course for Newly Appointed Assistant Judges in 2017, for which he was awarded the Director General (DG) Award from the Judicial Administration Training Institute.

His commitment to legal research is evident in his publications, including the book “Laws of Succession Prevailing in Bangladesh (Muslim, Hindu & Christian)” and his co-authored work “Bicharer Addapanta”. Additionally, he has expanded his expertise through international training, having participated in a Capacity Building Program at Western Sydney University, Australia.

Driven by a passion for judicial excellence, legal research, and public service, Ashfaqur Rahman continues to make significant contributions to the legal sector in Bangladesh, aspiring to further enhance access to justice and the development of legal frameworks in the country.
